Job Description

Pay: $15/hour

Location: This is a fully remote position

Who We Are:

Holistiplan is an award winning financial planning tool specializing in tax planning, insurance risk management, and soon to be estate! We’re known for our industry leading tactical tax planning, reporting, and scenario analysis solutions. Holistiplan has been voted the #1 tax planning software in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Kitces Report Studies and the #1 tax planning software for 5 consecutive years in the T3 / Inside Information Software Surveys.

Within 45 seconds, Holistiplan’s OCR technology scans tax returns and creates a white-labeled client-facing Tax Report highlighting opportunities for financial planners and investment advisors. Now, advisors have innovative tax planning tools at their fingertips to find opportunities to work with their clients to reduce their client’s lifetime tax burden and preserve their wealth.

Who we’re looking for:

We are seeking an OCR Data Analyst to join our team at Holistiplan. This role will review documents that users have uploaded that fail our Optical Character Recognition software. Our users (financial advisors) upload their clients’ income tax and auto/home/umbrella insurance documents to be read by our software, which then turns that information into deliverable reports. When the software cannot read the document, or cannot read it with 100% confidence, the failed document is routed to a queue where the OCR1 reviews the documents and manually enters any information that the software did not read or read incorrectly.

This is a part-time position at a fast growing, fun-loving, team oriented company. In this position, you will gain a deeper understanding of the format of the Form 1040, to ensure that the data extracted is correct and usable. While this is not a requirement, an individual on an education path in accounting, finance or data analytics would be able to use and apply the knowledge that they gain.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Data Comparison:
    • Cross-check OCR-extracted values against an uploaded document to ensure consistency and correctness.
    • Identify and address any discrepancies, misclassifications, or missing data in the extracted information.

Qualifications:

  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to recognize patterns.
    • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
    • Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
    • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Education & Experience:
    • High school diploma required.
    • Education or job experience in the fields of financial planning, income tax, data entry or related fields is a plus.
    • While not required, experience and comfort with Form 1040 or personal income tax preparation/analysis would be a welcome addition.
